rjphotography  > Nature > Fossil Springs Wilderness
Our family hiked this Arizona trail in November 2007. It was a four mile walk down to the bottom of the valley, where springs and waterfalls flow year-round. Pictures taken with a Canon 20D and 25-104 mm or 10-22 mm lenses.

rjphotography > The stream eventually reached an old dam (barely seen at the lower right) which was once used to divert the water down to a plant to generate electricity. The plant is no longer running, so the flume used to carry the water down has been broken open, yielding this large waterfall.
rjphotography > A view looking down from the dam. No protective railings! Several people were diving and swimming in the water below.
rjphotography > You can see the flume that used to carry the water running horizontally toward the top of this picture. The trail continues downstream and eventually reaches the old power plant.
